New Podcast - The Stuff of Nightmares Vol.1

It's taken a while but I've finally got round to finishing the latest podcast, The Stuff of Nightmares!!!
I've really enjoyed putting this one together (although I did give myself  a serious case of the creeps sitting in my dark room assembling this in the early hours of the morning!)

If you were born between the late 60's and mid 70's then this is for you...don't blame me if you have nightmares though...you have been warned!!

Jesus Rex....

One day all colouring books will be this good.
I'm off to see if I can find one for my Daughter immediately (if only)....
It's the work of Graphic Artist Derek Chatwood, there's loads more great stuff on his web site.

It's like Tron...but for real...

The French creative agency Superbien came up with the installation you can see in the video below in order to promote the Telecoms company Alcatel-Lucent. But who cares why it was created....it is absolutely fantastic, no idea how they achieved it (guess it's projection based rather than self-illuminated) but it's for real not a CGI mock up...I can't wait to see this technology start to appear all over the place...absolutely mesmerising...

I'm Dead...

I'm not normally a fan of David Shrigley, there's the odd piece of work that I like, mostly within his photographic output, but I do like this piece from the Glasgow festival of Art:

More info about the artist at davidshrigley.com
Picture was posted by Sam Bain on Twitter.

Insects Vs Sinister Fairies

I've just discovered the work of Artist Tessa Farmer.
She depicts a world where tiny, sinister, skeletal fairies are at battle with our world.
They battle with insects and collectively take down bigger prey like Hedgehogs, Rats and Snakes.
It's fascinating, atmospheric and disturbing stuff invoking feelings of childhood nightmares and evil lurking just out of sight.
I've become an instant fan of her work and hope I get the chance to check some out in person soon.
There's an interview with her over at the Saatchi website and you can find her official site at tessafarmer.com

GAS Strikes Again!! (Guitar Acquisition Syndrome)

I only sold my Fender '62 American Reissue Jaguar a couple of weeks ago (some pics here and here) but I've already fallen in love with this new release from Gibson.
The 50th Anniversary 1960 ES-335TD is a thing of absolute beauty.
This Gibson Custom Shop reissue is based on the late 1960 version of the 335 which many consider to be the best version of this iconic guitar ever made.
Looks like the Custom Shop are really pushing the boat out on this model with a choice of three finishes and with period correct hardware including a pair of PAF-style 57 Classic humbucking pickups.
I've always wanted to own a genuine Gibson 335 and this looks like the one to get....if it wasn't for one thing....you've guessed it, the price!
Prices start at $5,645 and rise to $6,115 depending on the finish.
Lots more info and pictures to be found over at the Gibson website

Fantastic Architecture

This blog post has been reposted all over the place but it really does feature some quite remarkable and inspirational buildings (as well as some pretty rubbish novelty/amusement park stuff).
When Art successfully meets Architecture the results can be quite spectacular.
Below are a few of my favourites, original blog post can be found over at InstantShift together with the full source information for the images used.
